Licensure
Please be sure to read the Licensuring,
Ordination, and Recognition Committee (LORC) By-Laws and
the FAQ About MPCA Recognition and Licensure pages
before proceeding.
Requirements and Procedures to Request LIMITED Licensure
Please note that the applicant is responsible for providing ALL
information, and that no action will be taken until all documents are received.
To check the status of your application at any time, please contact licensure@mainepaganclergy.org.
Please supply an original, not a copy, of the following:
- Certificate of Recognition by the MPCA.
- Specific details of clergy function, not limited to date, time, place,
persons involved, and content of service.
- Check or money order for $5.00, payable to the MPCA, P.O. Box 313, Hollis Center, ME 04042 for processing.

Requirements and Procedures to Request FULL Licensure
Full licensure requires a written summary provided prior to
meeting with the committee that covers the following:
- personal spiritual
development
- ethics
- belief statement
- regular spiritual activity and practices
- religious faith
journey
- past and continuing education
- leadership skills and education
- role of clergy
- specifics of Ordination
- finances
- administration
- ritual and religious leadership
- familiarity with local resources
and laws
- history and tradition
- literature, art, music and/or other
specific expressions of faith
- pastoral care and counseling
- options for enhancing any deficiency
Also required are:
- personal reference from three non-committee members
attesting to applicant's clerical stature and, if appropriate, a statement
endorsing the candidate's clerical functioning by the group or groups
served.
- personal interview.
- payment of a $20.00 fee to the Maine Pagan Clergy
Association for processing.
- approval by the LORC.

Renewing Licensure Status
This status is renewable yearly at Samhain MPCA Quarterly Meeting
with request that includes:
- A notarized statement attested by the applicant that affirms they
continue to meet all requirements set by the Board of the MPCA for
maintaining their current status.
- At least 12 clock hours community service, including, but not limited
to, open ritual, teaching, writing, involvement with other Pagan groups,
or serving on committees or boards for Pagan groups
- At least 25 clock hours of continuing education, including, but not
limited to, classes, reading, research or supervision.
- Payment of a $5.00 fee to the Maine Pagan Clergy Association for
processing.
